Position Title: Financial Assistant
Section (1): Overall Responsibilities. Provide day-to-day advisory assistance support to the Finance Manager to ensure the successfully performance of ongoing administrative/financial operations.
Duties will include but not be limited to the following:
- Operate independently to organize and coordinate work. This involves system review, updating, and maintenance and the actual production of documents, statements, and reports.
- Ensure that all financial transactions and reports are accurate, conform to requirements, and are germane to financial requests.
- Reconcile the clients report data with that of the accounting station, the National Business Center at the Department of the Interior (NBC).
- Prepare periodic reports on the financial status of all the clients program commitments and operating expenses.
- Prepare special reports on the status of program and operating funds for current, past, and future fiscal years.
- Reconcile data from the Trade and Development Management Information System (TDAMIS) with that of the Oracle Financial System (OFS).
- Assist with the preparation for the client's annual Audit.
- Assist with the preparation of Financial Statements.
- Assist with the activities associated with the client's year-end closing.
- Assist in managing the operational aspects of the Automated Financial System (AFS). This involves system review, maintenance, and the actual production of documents, statements, and reports.
- Ensure the integrity of the client's financial reporting systems by noting areas needing improvements and, after consultation with the Financial Officer, takes action necessary to improve the system. Identifies system requirements and participates in developing system improvements to meet those requirements.
- Participate in the operation of the newly integrated double entry accrual accounting system. Advise managers on changing program operations. Formats new reports to satisfy new information requirements. Examines production documents, records, accounting reports and processes to assure that they conform to generally accepted accounting principles.
Section (2): Qualifications: Experience with government agencies and accounting systems is critical. Hands on experience with the following systems is a plus:
(a) Trade and Development Management Information System (TDAMIS) (b) Oracle Financial System (OFS) (c) Automated Financial System (AFS)
Section (3): Education/Certifications: A degree in a related field is important but not required.
Section (4): Location: Work will be conducted in Arlington, Virginia.
Section (5): Travel: No travel is required.
