Is Your Church Healthy? :ChristianBibleStudies.com (889 hits)
A good friend of ours went to pastor a little rural church when he graduated from seminary. Excited for our friend, we wanted to come encourage him as he preached. He gave us careful directions of how to get to the church, telling us to look for a sign on a crossroad that pointed the way.
Well, we drove back and forth over and over but never found a sign. We finally decided to go up and down the country roads in the vicinity hoping we'd run across the church. At long last we did and got there just in time to hear him preach.
After the service we explained why we were late. After we left, he called the church trustee to find out what had happened to the sign. The trustee replied, "Oh, I took it down for the winter so it won't get worn out." This was our friend's first clue that this wasn't a very healthy church.
