Should Black People March For Immigration Reform, March 21 in Washington DC? (227 hits)
Should The Black Community support the Immigration Reform March on Washington DC March 21 2010? How will this benefit The Black Community?? This March is for the Rights of Illegals to be afforded the same rights as Americans. Those that are born and raised here. They can get Americans Rights and go back to their country any time they want . We as Black America will be asked to share and the divide the little that we do have . What do you think or how do you feel about the issue at hand?
I highly doubt "many" blacks will march for immigration reform simply because we as the black community understand it will not benefit us in anyway. Foreigners have government support alrady with whatever they need. They come to America make millions (sometimes) and send it back to their relatives in their various countries (respecively) They (some foreigners) think getting th black community involved will help them get their causes done faster as soon as they get what they want out of us, they drop their support from our (black community) causes. And we as the black communtiy is usually the ones left holding the ball in the same economic situations while they continually advance off our backs. Myths are wide spread that foreigners work harder than blacks (born in USA) and this adds o the notation that they deserve more, when in fact there are many hard working blacks that deserve to be recgnized for their hard work and given loans for businesses, homes, cars, etc.

In all my years I never bothered with government and issues until President Obama came into office, and I must say it’s a sad state of affairs that African Americans are in still today. Now I discuss things with my grown children everyday to make sure that they are informed and not like I was. We are so misinformed and ignorant to the rules and regulations of our government, and when things start to happen, all we do is cry about it and holler low blow. I agree with Ms. Beauty, not many people will march, but its because they don’t understand how it affects the African American community. We definitely need to support the immigration reform bill. It affects us second only to the immigrants. Reform affects not only immigration, but Refugees and border security.
.The bill has many positive proposals including one which will tighten requirements for the H2B visa program. This program allows American employers to the H-2B working visa is a nonimmigrant visa which allows foreign nationals to enter into the U.S. temporarily and engage in nonagricultural employment which is seasonal, intermittent, a peak load need, or a one-time occurrence. It would also restrict employers from participating if they have had a mass lay-off of American workers in the past year. This would help African American attain more jobs, instead of illegal immigrants getting these jobs illegally and off the books. (I must say this tho, I don’t see any reports ascertaining as to how many African Americans are actual applying for these jobs. This bill also allows women to come into the US and get nursing training and go back to their country to a career, except without it, they would fall under the radar and stay here and take away much needed jobs.
The bill would also only allow the federal government to enforce federal immigration law. This is the only way the government can enforce a Southern Border Security Task Force composed of federal, state and local law enforcement officers, which would help to curve the drugs, gang populations from entering our states and god knows we needs this.
The law would also create both civil and criminal penalties for employers who knowingly employ illegals and do not check their employees. This also helps our people to obtain jobs, where they weren’t available before. This would prohibit employers from discriminating against applicants on the basis of nationality. (That’s a good things for African Americans) It may create a double edge sword, but not every thing can be perfect. Most recents studies show that there are over 2 million immigrants in this nation which cost taxpayers approximately 5.6 billions dollars a year.
We as African Americans harm ourselves when we are misinformed, and believe that things don’t affect us. We don’t understand that is we don’t take a stand for something we will fall for anything. To view the bill go to opencongress.org/bill/111-h4321/show.
Good post Mr. Cherry, Must share this discussion on my other network.
