CABIN FEVER ON THE EAST COAST CAN LEAD TO DEPRESSION AND HAS LED TO DEPRESSION IN MANY PEOPLE (465 hits)

We always laugh and joke about Cabin Fever and especially if we live in the snow regions. However, Cabin Fever is a real health issue that can lead to Depression! Did you know that Alaska is one of the top regions for serious Depression?!!

There is a blessing in every storm as they say and I noticed during the past winter blizzards, my book sales went up a notch or two. This was great that folks were reading "Cooling Well Water: A Collection of Work By An African-American Bipolar Woman" (ISBN 13 9780975461204) and one organization purchased a bulk order!

However, the fact that folks were buying the book during this winter storm, allowed me to realize that being forced to stay indoors over long periods of time can lead to people having Depression or other mental health issues.

If you already suffer with Depression, I am sure the long winter days caused your symptoms to flare up. If you have an untreated mental condition, things could get pretty serious quickly if you cannot get out in the sun and get some fresh air!

So, today I want to remind folks about the serious health risk of Cabin Fever and invite you to purchase "Cooling Well Water: A Collection of Work By An African-American Bipolar Woman" (ISBN 13 9780975461204) which contains some useful coping and management tools to use as well as handy resources for you to reach out to mental health professionals in the privacy of your home. "Cooling Well Water: A Collection of Work By An African-American Bipolar Woman" (ISBN 13 9780975461204) can be purchased from either Amazon at www.Amazon.com or Barnes & Noble Online at www.bn.com.

Remember, Depression is a normal emotion that comes and goes with life. It is a chemical release in the brain known as Dopemine that is probably responsible for the emotion depression. When someone dies or we lose our job, we may feel periods of sadness. When we fail to get adequate doses of sunlight, we may have "Sundown" or "Seasonal" Depression, too.

Sometimes we are in close quarters with people who suffer with Depression and it may rub off onto us. Various circumstances that are disappointing in nature, may cause us to feel depression. Sometimes financial problems or family arguements leading to internal anger may cause depression. This feeling of sadness will normally pass and the individual can ususally function despite the depression. However, when depression becomes persistent and is constant for two weeks or more, it is Clinical or Chronic Depression needing medical attention as soon as possible!

"Cooling Well Water: A Collection of Work By An African-American Bipolar Woman" (ISBN 13 9780975461204" is available as a quick resoursce book as well as giving the reader a greater understanding about life with a mental illness. It will encourage you to pick up the phone and get the professional help you may need with Cabin Fever or to explore more ways of coping and managing the mental condition.

The daily routine of the individual suffering from depression is interrupted during winter storms as well. The individual may not usually leave the house, but he or she is still affected by the change in the season and weather such as lack of sunshine and anxiety about when will the snow go away. Did you know that a person who usually lays on the sofa all day with depression may suddenly have the urge to need to go outside after severals days of Cabin Fever? If he or she cannot go outside, the internal anger, lack of control over the weather, and frustration may worsen the Depression symptoms.

Also, Chronical Depression drains your body of potassium and that contributes to low energy. Chronical Depression affects your muscles and that causes aches and pains. It is no wonder most people suffering from untreated Depression lay around in bed while the housework builds up and he or she has no interest in grooming or eating.

In addition, untreated Chronical Depression may bring on serious and persistent thoughts of hopelessness and thoughts of suicide! An individual's self-esteem may be very low during this time as well. This is why it is crucial to seek treatment if you or a loved one suffers from untreated Depression. Some symptoms to look out for are: eating disorders, sleep disorder, no interest in normal things such as television, work, activities, appearance, suicidal expressions, poor judgment such as wanting to go driving in the snow when it is not safe to do so, and noticeable withdrawal from family such as not wanting to leave the bedroom or have meals with family. Did you know that a strong prayer life can help defeat Depression?

One of the saving graces for me during the winter storms especially is my participation with prayer groups by way of teleconferences. As believers, we must feed our spirits daily bread and with modern technology, it is possible during bad weather. If you need a prayer buddy, just send me an e-mail at coolingwellwater@aol.com. Some good Scriptures to meditate on doing periods of Cabin Fever are:

Luke 21:34,
Psalm 31:9,
2 Cor. 1:8-9,
Jer. 29:11

Another tool I use to battle the spirit of depression is listening to Praise & Worship gospel songs and other Christian songs for inspiration. My favorites are: Juanita Bynum, Kirk Franklin, Hezekiah Walker, Florida Mass Choir ("Jesus Is The Light"), Tri-State Mass Choir ("Come To Jesus"), and the Winans.

"Cooling Well Water: A Collection of Work By An African-American Bipolar Woman" (ISBN 13 9780975461204) also includes a short list of Chrisitan musical artists!

If you suspect that you or a loved one suffers from depression, discuss it with your healchare provider, pastor, or reach out to resource organizations such as the National Alliance on Mental Illness or the American Association of Pastoral Counselors. If you have a copy of "Cooling Well Water: A Collection of Work By An African-American Bipolar Woman" (ISBN 13 9780975461204), there are great resources in the book and the book itself is very encouraging with poetry that ministers to the spirit. One reader recently told me that the book has a new and different meaning to her each time she reads it. Another reader was able to get emergency help for her son using the resource section in the back of the book!

Lastly, the most important thing to remember is that treatment is available to individuals suffering from depression. When one person hurts from the affects of depression, the entire Body of Christ hurts! (1 Cor. 12:26 NIV)

Be spiritually wise and purchase your copy of "Cooling Well Water: A Collection of Work By An African-American Bipolar Woman" (ISBN 13 9780975461204) TODAY from Amazon at www.Amazon.com or Barnes & Noble Online at www.bn.com!
