One of my favorite authors is John C. Maxwell. New York Times Best-Selling Author I should add. In a recent book titled: “The Difference Maker”…Making Your Attitude Your Greatest Asset, Maxwell writes about the magnitude of managing your decision to have an attitude that is positive on a daily basis. He wastes no time in pointing out that your decision to “be” a person with a good attitude is only part (small part) of actually living with a good attitude. Managing your attitude daily is the ultimate key!
Quite often we place way too much emphasis on making decisions and way too little on managing the decisions we’ve already made. Maxwell wrote an entire book on this very topic. The thesis of the book (Today Matters) is that successful people make right decisions early and manage those decisions daily. I agree, but also realize that in reality we often do not make the right decisions initially. But if you manage your decisions daily you’ll know early whether to change your decision, tweak it, or begin again. For example: You can make a decision to have a good attitude, but if you don’t make plans to manage that decision every day, then you are likely to end up right back where you started, according to Maxwell. But here’s the good news: maintaining the right attitude is easier than regaining the right attitude.
How? So how do you maintain the right attitude? An ancient Chinese proverb says: “Assume a cheerfulness you do not feel, and shortly you feel the cheerfulness you assumed.” Each morning when I awake, I give thanks for all I do have and all I don’t have and don’t want… then remind myself of my decision to be positive and grateful. When you get up in the morning, you need to remind yourself of the decision you made to have a positive attitude. YOU need to manage your thinking and direct your actions so that they are consistent with your decision, according to Maxwell.
YOU must take responsibility for your attitude! YOU then will recognize that it will change how you live!
Managing your “right” attitude every day helps manage your thoughts and creates the “right” actions necessary for your happiness. YOU can make your attitude your greatest asset. Make attitude the difference maker in your life!
That is some good information. I too am a fan of Maxwell and I love to read his books. Are you in Mary Kay? reading your blog makes me belief that you could be a beauty consultant. See our mission is to Enrich Women's lives and that is exactly what you are doing with words of encouragement like this. Yes ATTITUDE can make you or break you! Thanks for sharing.
