NYPD shoots and kills it own - white officer kills black (858 hits)
and of course race had nothing to do with, nor did stereotypes or ingrained prejudices. This proves how fatel inaccurate perceptions can be. I can imagine the officer thinking this was another thug that he must protect hisself and society from. Both were in plain clothes and given the problems nypd has had they all need to go to sensitivity training at least once a month until these hiden perceptions and knee jerk reactions are no longer a part of the force.
I also think we need to have a serious talk about race and some viable solutions without fingerpointing. If racism hadn't existed in this nation we would look at this for what it really is an officer killing an officer instead of a white officer killing a black officer. Hate for others based soley on race, perceived privilege (not all white people have it), or perceived disadvantages (not all blacks have these) should no longer be an excuse for intolerance, arrogance, ignorance and a holier than thou attitude. We have got to do better ya'll.
unfortunetly solomon i don't think we will ever wake up. we have allowed so many attacks in ny and around this nation go unpunished. now that they killed one of their own we'll have to wait and see just how valuable his life truly was.

yeah, e private. the sad part is his family now has to deal with this. i hope the black cops on nypd pay attention to this and take proper precautions. maybe michael myers should do another doc on cops. if you're a black cop don't ever chase down suspects out of uniform, if you're a black cop scream at the top of your lungs and hope for the best. for shame.

Min House-Bey, thank you. You are right we have been in a silent war for centuries trying to deal with issues that don't even belong to us but we assume responsibility for because no one else will.
