I guess a woman can have too much of a good thing sometime. (161 hits)
When I made the above declaration I was so serious! I had a reality check when a service provider said he may need to access my attic which would be through my closet. That meant I had to remove all of my shoes from the floor. So, I began to move them from the closet and line them up along the hall wall. At first it was interesting because I found or rediscovered some shoes I'd forgotten about. I'm sure you ladies have special shoes that you seem to wear regular because they feel good, look good and make you legs look good.
I have to confess I only moved the shoes that were on the floor of this one closet; that didn't include the shoes hanging in the shoe rack or the other room. I have a real weakness for western boots. I really like them because they are good for my back and because I dance Zydeco. So the shoes I'm talking about are western boots. While I have some really practical western boots like, Justin’s and Dan Post; over the couple of years I got hooked on Donald J. Planer Couture Western Boots. That's when the trouble really started!
First of all, they are real works of art! They are fabulous. These boots are made in Italy and I only have leather ones. After my first or second pair I got smart and decided to take my own advice... (I owned a high end women's consignment store for eight years) let someone else pay the full retail and I get the benefit when they tire of them because, "they just don't fit right" or was a gift and "it's just not me".
So now I am a loyal eBay customer with my "favorite" sellers. All of that being said, I feel like I'm getting a major deal, so since I saved so much money, I can purchase more...many of you know this logic...
Now, back to the repair man's visit...I got a wakeup call when I counted more than 60 pairs of boots. That doesn't include my other shoes. So I made a pledge not to purchase another pair of western boots. There is nothing like a visual to get the point across. My husband has asked in the past when I would have enough. I got an attitude because I felt like there was no problem because I don't charge or make a bill, but again I refer to that visual and I got the point.
Sometimes there is enough and as far as boots are concerned, I have enough and am about to look as some other areas in my life like jewelry, real jewelry. I will come up with a plan to be realistic about making more controlled buying habits there too.
The bottom line is we are never too old to learn about ourselves, come up with a doable plan, change our behaviors and improve our lives and relationships. How about sharing some of your habits that needed to be “modified” or eliminated. What you say may help someone.
