DO NOT USE THE SAME HAND THAT CATCHES THE LADYBUG TO CATCH A WASP (538 hits)


When you grow up hearing proverbs all the time, it makes you think that everyone talks that way. You take for granted that there are people who do not have a clue or worse still do not care to even begin understanding the way you think. When you deal with people you have to quickly determine, each individuals personality so that you can know how to interact with them. Its obvious that a ladybug is a gentle insect while a wasp has a reputation for stinging people. For that reason you have to handle them differently. If you know that you are going to be handling wasps or bees, you have to have wear protective gear, while you do not have to do the same with ladybugs. There really is no need to expound on this point further as you can see, its really easy to understand. Then again is it?

You will be amazed that its normally this simple things in life that are most complicated. Its always the simplest of concepts that have the most profound impact on peoples lives. You might be wondering where this is headed, haven't you figured it out already? This illustration has nothing to do with insects. The real application here is learning how to exercise discernment and mastering the art of communication. In communication, the adage is " you cannot not communicate ". During the election season, they always tell the voters to make sure that they vote, because failure to do so, is a vote by default.

Likewise, you have to understand what it that people are telling you even though they are not uttering any words. By determining and learning the art of non verbal communication, you will know how to respond to each individual person. People are different, they come in all sorts of colors, shapes and sizes. Even a parent cannot deal with each child the same, because they are not the same. They each have distinctly unique characteristics that are part of their genetic make up. So you cannot expect to discipline the child who has become immune to paddling with paddling every time, because that technique will not work.

On the other hand there is the child who will do everything in their power not to get the paddle. If you still cant follow what I am trying to say, I hope that this illustration will help you. An employer has two employees, one has an attention problem, he listens to instructions but doesn't really hear them , because he is so excited and cant wait to get to work. The other employee listens extremely well, understands the instructions perfectly, but will not do what they are asked to do because, they have a problem with obeying authority figures. If you are the employer, you cannot arbitrarily decide to judge the two employee the same, by deciding that they are both disrespectful and terminating their employment immediately.

The truth is that even if you could terminate the both of them because you had the authority to do it, you would have to make sure that terminating the two employees is the best course of action for you as well as your business model. If you took the time to investigate the reason why the employees were not completing their tasks as instructed, it would save you a lot of money. When you terminate someone from their job, you have to have a good reason for doing so. If there is no reason for doing it, then you as the employer, will end up paying out unemployment benefits to the employer.

The hand that deals with the employee who is hyper and gets too excited about the job, is the hand that catches the ladybug. Since you will have determined that this employee is not being rude or insubordinate, you will address the issue by talking to this employee in a calm manner explaining to them why they need to control their zeal as it pertains to the job, so that they can be more effective. By doing so, the employees productivity level is increased and you will receive less headaches from this employee. On the other hand, the other employee who has issues with authority, that's a wasp that needs to be exterminated quickly.

The hand that deals with this employee needs to be firm and unpretentious. It doesn't matter whether this is a friend, family member, lover, pastor what have you. In this situation you have to take the emotion out of the decision making process, realizing that this type of person is a cancer that has to be uprooted immediately. If you do not deal with this person in the manner that they need to be dealt with, its going to cost you more than you bargained for. Chances are that they are going to start a rebellion in your business, or they are going to look for a reason to sue you , or they are going to start fights with other employees all the time for no reason.

Wasps hang around only to sting you, they were not created for beauty, these are not lady bugs. Don't pet the wasps in your life, by making up excuses, to justify your own inaction. Enabling a wasp is like playing with fire near a gas station pump. Make no mistake about it, if you tempt a wasp it will sting you, that's the only way that wasps socialize. What kind of wasps are you tolerating in your life hoping that they will turn into ladybugs? Life is too short to waste time with wasp like characters, misery loves company. Don't invite a wasp into your circle of ladybugs, the two just don't go together.
