Right Wing rising against President Obama as 2009 Commencement Speaker at Notre Dame (5759 hits)
President Obama was chosen to be the 2009 Commencement Speaker at the University of Notre Dame's graduation ceremony. However, right-wing groups have been trying to rally support against this selection. The University has chosen to recognize the President's efforts to bring the country together and promote issues such as economic recovery, reforming health care, and environmental action (among others).
Please sign the petition below indicating your support for the President and for the University of Notre Dame in their choice to promote the greater good over single-issue political games.
Hopefully, he will breeze through this controversy. I think he will. After all his Irish roots may help as well as his new Ambassador to Ireland, Dan Rooney owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Stem cell's resisters insist that the harvesting (I hate that word, it sounds evil when referring to human beings) of these cells ONLY come from aborted fetuses. The cells taken from placenta or afterbirth of the mother. The ethics that underpins this conundrum is the unsettled issue of abortion. Capitalism drives the use of it from aborted fetuses, morality and religion oppose.
As for the use of this issue to oppose the President, I agree though I would not label this instance as knee jerk so much, but an issue that is a fundamental debate between the Republicans and Democrats.
I feel good on this one, they won't stop him.

I'm in with Obama being the speaker. It's a shame people are always trying to keep a good man down. ND better get it together!
