In May of last year I found out that I had Cancer! (153 hits)

It was the day before my daughters graduation from college (Fayetteville State) when I was diagnosed. The doctor told me that I needed to have surgery ASAP. I told him that I could not miss my daughters graduation and I had to prepare for it with my family (now I know what y'all thinking, she's crazy, No I'm not, I just have more faith than an mustard seed. I believe if he brings it to you, he can bring you out of it). I waited to tell my family the night before the graduation, reassuring them that all was well either way. The only thing I prayed for was to see my children grown. Moving on! Two weeks later I was being admitted into the hospital for surgery, the cancer had grown into two sizes of grapefruits. Yes, it was painful. I had surgery on my birthday, it was a Monday. My family gathered around me five at a time before they willed me in the back for the surgery. Prayers were flowing and tears were rolling. But I knew that God had my back, yet tears still swelled my eyes. Okay, this is the funny part! I am SCARED of NEEDLES! I was in surgery for hours, at least five. In the recovery room for I don't know how long. Finally, I was given a room, I was in so much pain that even morphine wasn't working, so they had to put me on something stronger that dripped out on it's on into my arm for pain. I don't know how, but the only thing that woke me up from my deep sleep was my baby cousin leaning on my bed singing spanish numbers to me. My daughter recorded it, because I didn't remember singing it back to him with my eyes closed. Today Ladies, I am cancer free and moving on! I sing because I'm happy and I sing because I'm FREE! Yes, his eyes are on the sparrow and I know, Yes, I know that he watches over me! Be Bless, because he's the BEST!!!!

Passing the Purple Hat to You

IN honor of women's history month and in memory of Erma Bombeck who lost her fight with cancer. Here is an 'angel' sent to watch over you. Pass this on to five women that you want watched over. If you don't know five women to pass this on to, one will do just fine.

IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER - by Erma Bombeck
(written after she found out she was dying from cancer).

I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.

I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.

I would have talked less and listened more.

I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained, or the sofa faded.

I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.

I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.

I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.

I would have sat on the lawn with my grass stains.

I would have cried and laughed less while watching television and more while watching life.

I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil, or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.

Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.

When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, 'Later. Now go get washed up for dinner.' There would have been more 'I love you's' More 'I'm sorry's.'

But mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute... look at it and really see it… live it and never give it back. STOP SWEATING THE SMALL STUFF!!!

Don't worry about who doesn't like you, who has more, or who's doing what
Instead, let's cherish the relationships we have with those who do love us.

If you don't mind, send this on to all the women you are grateful to have as friends.
Maybe we should all grab that purple hat earlier.. Please send this to five phenomenal women today in celebration of Beautiful Women's Month.

If you do, something good will happen--you will boost another woman's self esteem.
