Fasting for Spiritual Breakthrough--The Elijah Fast. (638 hits)

Well family 2008 is almost over..we don't want to wait until January 1, 2009 to begin our vision for improvement. Let's make a resolution to prepare early. We have to choose how long to fast. It can be eight hours but more than the time from meal to meal. Can you fast, when going to bed? presumably if you will be in prayer most of the night in God's presence and until noon the next day. You can break it up over several days, if you have to go to work,to pta and business meetings. It's about our will, determination and desire to please Him, not passing out from hunger.

The Elijah Fast is used for breaking negative emotional and mental habits.

The more deeply rooted the habit the more intense the fasting and prayer, the longer you have had the habit the longer you have to fast. Nothing is easy.

The Affirmation:
I believe in the power of God over the whole person, spirit, soul and body ( 1 Thessa. 5:23). I believe that " He has given us not a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind." (2 Tim. 1:7, KJV).

Vow: God being my strength, and grace being my basis, I commit myself to the Elijah Fast for building godly character, to the glory of God.

Fast: What I will with hold_Red Meat,_____________________________________________

Beginning: Date and time I will start_6:00 p.m. December 30, 2008_____________________________________

End: Date and time For a day or two intervals . Then I will stop._Every 3 months that's 4x until next year. I will do the fast as I can for whatever amount of time the Spirit and earthly chores allow me.

Purpose: I am fasting /praying to break the emotional habit of:_Personal between you and Your God.______________


Bible Basics: I Kings 19
Bible Promise: " For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you or forsake you. " So we may boldly say." The Lord is my helper: I will not fear." (Heb. 13:5,6).

Resources needed:_A Strong will --it's our Covenant with the Most High. Universal Intelligence

I am starting tomorrow after 3:00 p.m. --lets' fast as long as we can..and yes you can call on the Most High. Jehovah, which all Christians know is one of his many names Mozell. If I didn't have the responsiblity for my mom, I would try until New Year's Day..do what you can..At midnight on the 31st say a prayer.

Our congregation will be on a fast until Jan 10th. Most will do absolute. Others who have to take meds etc will Give up meats and sweets. So, I'm already in.
