TUSCALOOSA, AL/ Before he sentenced former Alabama Fire College director William Langston to more than 10 years in prison Wednesday, US District Court Judge Scott Coogler told Langston he had lost his way. I don't think you started out with the right motives, but greed got to you," Coogler told Langston. Coogler also ordered Langston to ppay $1.4 million in restitution to the state's two-year college system. Before the judge handed down his sentence, Langston asked Coogler for leniency. I am deeply sorry for the wrongs that I have done. I apologize to this court, the employees at the Fire College and more importantly, to my grandchildren who look up to me," Langston said. "I've lost so much that I will never regain."
