Dalton Sherman, a 9 year old child speaks to 20,000 as a keynote speaker

Awesome-from the mouth of a babe! It is time to become our brother's keeper and our neighborhood child's keeper. If we give up on these children who do we have to blame? The responsibility lies not just with teachers, but with the collective community regardless of what neighborhood we live in. Our ancestors prayed for the day that we all would be free and prosper. Let's not disappoint them. What can you do today to show disenfranchised youth that you believe in them?

A future Obama...not enough black children see this and too many that do scoff. Lot's of Asian, and White child prodigies though..I have seen two other youngsters like Dalton ..keep track of his progress to 18. Like Farrah Grey

Marta,
There are so many others- they just need a little inspiration and motivation. What can we do? I pose this question to all of us, myself included.

Use Obama an example that not all Black Americans need to be boilerplates of a stereoptype..than you can be proud to be Black, and be different-that you can use Ebonics as a second or first language to communicate with your "family" just as
patois is used. That this country has an expectation of all Americans..and really you can't go too far away from that criteria. If you do, don' t expect to be President in the near future..if someday a Flava Flav gets to the White House it won't be in my lifetime. For now, there is a standard, and Obama has set it for Black youths..

Joyce,

I am going to share an experience about my now 22-year old son..it will help us to form some kind of standard..and you will see why. Sending a private e-mail. If you think it should be shared, by all means do so..I don't want to bore others with my family situations.

I love this and I will be praying for both Dalton and his parents.
