Are we as a people so obsessed with proving we are not racist/prejudice that we are willing to deny our own.

I do not consider myself prejudice, racist, or an evil person. I have taught my children to be color blind. I am color blind. I went to a majority white catholic school I sent my children to private schools as well. However, just because my parents wanted the best education they could give to me; and I want the same for my children, does not mean that I am not proud of being a strong African American women. Why should I not be. God put me on this earth as a black woman. I have never wanted to be anything other than who I am. Just because I want to treat everyone equally and do not want to discriminate in any way does not mean that I will turn my back on my own black people. I am not ashamed of being black, I refuse to alienate myself, nor my children from black people. And yes, I truly feel and know that a rich chocolate skin, all the way to a "red bone"/light skin black sister is as beautiful as a white blue eyed blond women. I have heard people say that they are color blind. I say, if they are so color blind, why do they make such a big effort to stay away from black communities, or even associate with anything having to do with black people/groups/communities. They are color blind alright. It is reverse discrimination. While they are trying to prove to others that they are not racist, they are outright discriminating against there own people. I find this very sad. Why are black people so quick to disown one another. Why can't we be proud of our roots and where we come from and at the same time get along with other races. Is this so bad???? Our white friends, etc., should accept us, just like we accept them. What is the problem?
