Why Volunteering is Good for Your Health

I just read a newsletter that discussed the benefits of volunteering on both emotional and physical health. Giving our time to helping others helps us to make a positive difference in someone else's life, and to see the blessings in our own lives. It takes our mind off of our own problems and lessens any physical and emotional pain we may be experiencing. There is research indicating that volunteering at least 40 hours in a year provides health benefits.

What volunteer activities do you like to do? How much time do you put into volunteering?

Volunteer may be good for your health, but one things I know uit is good for the spirit. I have volunteer for over 5 years with one of the organizations here in Atlanta and I lvoe it. I done several projects but currently I volunteer with a project that feeds the homeless people of Atlanta. We prepare food and other volunteers go into the streets and deliver the food. So it is rewarding.
