Is laziness genetic? (MSNBC news report)

This morning on NBC, there was a report that shared research published in the Journal of Heredity on mice that found a cluster of genes that determine activity vs. inactivity. The question now is whether this exists in humans. It has been labeled the "laziness gene" by the media. The report does indicate that levels of neurotransmitters (dopamine and seratonin) that affect mood increase when physical activity increases. Critical piece of information to consider when looking at physical activity in humans. The line, "It's in my genes" comes to mind here as a stumbling block to those who may want to lose weight, but are having a difficult time doing so. Exercise, proper nutrition and balanced lifestyle is a way of life, one that many of us have to learn, practice daily, and embrace as an optimal part of our happiness.

What message does this research send to the public? Potential impact? Your thoughts?

LOL!! Love your comment. Now, what would be the benefit of identifying a so-called laziness gene in humans?
