Reminiscing...

So I've finally entered the real world. I had imagined coming out of college with many great jobs to choose from, a chic new apartment, and having little gatherings regularly to entertain friends. I'm single, so I keep my friends close. However, so far things haven't quite turned out as expected! Although I knew this wouldn't happen overnight. And I'm not just saying this because I haven't landed the job yet.

I could never understand why I'd hear so many people who'd gone to college say that those were some of the best days of their lives. I was always saying I couldn't wait to finish school and experience life devoid of research papers and projects. Yet, now I understand what a great experience college was. When I was in college I was struggling financially, but it didn't matter so much because I had great friends to struggle with.

College is kind of that middle ground where you aren't exactly on your own, but you are not a kid either. I had a lot of grown-up responsibilities. Yet, when times got a little tough I could always call home to the parents to bail me out. Just because they were proud of the fact that I was hanging in there. Sure I stayed up late a lot of nights studying, and I didn't get many weekends off from work. Nonetheless, I met some great people with some wonderful aspirations that I know will be lifelong companions.

Plus, thanks to online networks such as this site and others like Facebook, I can keep in touch with these people and get updates about what's happening in their lives. The Internet has definitely revolutionized the way that we keep in contact with each other.

Just reminiscing....
