Grammy-Nominated Artist Pierce Freelon Celebrates Black Joy, Culture, and Confidence with New Children's Album Black Boy Glow

Arriving on Juneteenth during Black Music Month, Black Boy Glow is a vibrant new children's album created to celebrate, affirm, and uplift Black boys through music, storytelling, and culture. The project delivers a joyful soundtrack while also encouraging confidence, self-worth, emotional growth, and meaningful connection.
Known for blending creativity, education, and cultural storytelling, Freelon has built a reputation for producing family-friendly content that speaks directly to Black experiences. With Black Boy Glow, he creates a musical space where young Black boys can see themselves reflected in positive, inspiring, and authentic ways.
The album opens with its title track, "Black Boy Glow," featuring Admin Earth, a celebration of gratitude and the everyday moments that make childhood magical. Throughout the project, Freelon explores themes of self-care, mentorship, integrity, aspiration, and community through engaging songs that families can enjoy together.

About Pierce Freelon
Pierce Freelon is a two-time Grammy-nominated artist, author, and Afrofuturist creator whose work spans music, children's media, television, and education. He is the creator of the acclaimed albums AnceStars and Black to the Future, has written for PBS Kids programs including Alma's Way and Work It Out Wombats!, and is the co-creator of Jamming on the Job and the Emmy Award-winning Beat Making Lab.
In addition to his creative work, Freelon is the author of two children's books, co-founder of the family-focused ice cream brand Coco Fro, and a former Durham City Councilman. He currently lives in North Carolina with his wife and two children.
