Gullah Geechee Language Activists:

Geechee Experience founders, Akua Page & Chris Cato, are language activists. The North Charleston natives use social media & viral videos to preserve & promote Gullah Geechee history & culture. Gullah Geechee is a living, thriving culture & they're goal is to instill pride in those who identify as Gullah Geechee people and/or as having Gullah Geechee roots

Amplifying Community Voices:

Geechee Experience is rooted in the Gullah Geechee community & seek community input for all things community related including the creation of the Geechee Experience Flag. The GX Flag is representative of the Gullah Geechee community, its history & culture

Geechee Experience Flag:

Black = the people

Black triangle = self determination

Blue = protection & water

Green = the land

Crab Shell = Self preservation, our right to protect ourselves & our cultural heritage

Spear = the Gullah Wars & our fight against oppression

Crops = remind us that we were brought here for our skills & ancient knowledge

Sister Levine, I enjoyed reading this post because of this word Geechee. That word is a word I use to hear my Grandmother would talk with joy in her voice about her Geechee friends in her youth.

I did some research on my own that I would like to share on this subject.
