How Easy It Is In Quiet Times Of Peace And
Joy To Lift The Heart In Gratitude To The
Source Of All Our Blessings!
But This Is Only The First Step In Learning To
Live In A Constant, Unwavering Spirit Of
Thankfulness.
As The Devil Well Knows, It Is Not In Times
Of Quiet Happiness And Well -Being That The
Reality Of Our Thankfulness Is Tested.
Do You Remember In The First Chapter Of The
Book Of Job, Satan's Challenge To God?
And The Lord Said Unto Satan, Hast Thou
Considered My Servant Job, A Perfect And An
Upright Man, One That Feareth God?
Then Satan Answered The Lord, And Said,
Doth Job Fear God For Nought?
Hast Thou Not Made An Hedge About Him, And
About His House, And About All That He Hath
On Every Side?
Thou Hast Blessed The Work Of His Hands, And
His Substance Is Increased In The Land.
But Put Forth Thy Hand Now, And Touch All That
He Hath, And He Will Curse Thee To Thy Face.
(Job, 1:11)
How Sadly We Recognize In Ourselves The
Tendency To Be Grateful Only For Those Things
Which Bring Us Momentary Satisfaction, And How
Slowly We Learn To "Give Thanks Always For All
Things."
