BUBONIC PLAGUE SITED

It's been 30 years since a serious case of the bubonic plague has appeared in the mountain region of Kyrgyzstan . Recently, a young boy of age 15 died after contacting the plague. It was said the boy may have been bitten by a flea which infected him. However another story said the boy contacted the plague by eating a barbequed groundhog infected with fleas carrying the plague. Since this death more than a week ago, many as 2000 people in the Issik-Kul region have been, or undergoing testing for infection.
Officials have tighten border controls and at least 100 persons have been quarantined. Teams have been sent to the regions to rid it of rodents and hosts which could carry the fleas. Last cases of the bubonic plague was in Peru in 2010 when 12 cases were reported according to the World Health Organization.
The Bubonic Plague is also known by the name of The Black Death.
