Greenwood was a street that ran through the Black side of town in the city of Tulsa Oklahoma.

ITS an amazing story ,,,the spirit of unity was with the people,,,,they got into it because of a woman..... and a black man got killed ,,,

I resonate with you all sentiments of Black America's tragedy in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1921 solely because of unity and accumulated wealth under extreme pressure by White Americans not to have unity and wealth.

However, I believe that you all are adding to the tragedy as well because of you all extreme ignorance of how you all have interpreted this tragedy. The only interpretation that any intelligent Black American should interpret this tragedy is that we must desire to have our own and be in the position to protect what we have. We must desire to become a sovereign people in a country of our own with borders on a reasonable and fertile portion of this continent. We must have our own prophet. We must have our own religion. We must have a profound belief in God given to us by our own prophet whom God has anointed. This is what you all are afraid of embracing, am I right.

I know that I am right because you all constantly whine and complain and refuse to accept our only permanent solution and that is we must desire to become a sovereign people. The only way one people (White Americans who are our relatives) can prevent Black Americans from having a desire to be sovereign free are to confuse and mentally mislead Black Americans.

You all need to stop whining and complaining!

I have a problem with some of your comments, Harry. I certainly an not "whining" about what happened.

Many people don't even know about The Black Wall Street. This knowledge has been hidden from us.

We need to heal from these kinds of events. This is what the ancestors want. And no, we do not have to believe in a god in order to heal from our past. Don't go dragging god into it.

While I support the call for a sovereign nation, we already have many sovereign nations in Africa.

What The Black Wall Street demonstrates is the destructive power of group mentality - the "us and them" mentality. When a community is destroyed, everybody suffers. We need to live and work together in harmony.

Let's talk about what we agree on, okay. You agree with me that Black Americans need to be a sovereign people/nation.
However, you say we already have sovereign nations in Africa. Are you aware that Black Americans were born out of plantation slavery on this continent in this country of White Ametica? So, how does many sovereign nations applies to Black Americans? Black Americans are a new race of people. Black Americans are not African people.

Am I wrong about these things I've said?

I did not know about the pattern of enslavement by native peoples and how it differed from enslavement by Europeans.

I don't have a problem with the word Black. The colour black is the most powerful colour, hence feared by Europeans and lighter-skinned people of other races. For my thoughts about this, go here:

Harry, no, it's not at all difficult for me to answer, but I do have other things to do. I believe I have already answered it in my blog. African Americans are African people. We always have been and we always will be. We never stopped being Africans.

Powell, African Americans are a mixture of different races and cultures. The attack on Greenwood was just one of many attacks on African American communities.

Gregory, thanks for your comments. You have made many good points.

I have known about this event for a long time, too. I am shocked about how few people know this story. Our stories need to be told. And I am still learning more. There is always more to learn.

The way I use the term "group", which is what I have learned in a Buddhist context, is that it is negative, the herd mentality. People who think for themselves are individuals who can, and should, work collectively. This is different from group mentality.

An attack on African people is an attack on everyone, of all races. Not just on Americans. It is an attack on humanity. And there have been many, many attacks on African people, as I am sure you know. Half the story has never been told.

The Blog King David, yes, I agree with what you have said. It is an amazing story and we can learn much that is positive from what happened.

One church decided to rebuild after the attack and they built their church twice as big as it had been before. Plus the courage of these extremely elderly survivors is something to behold.
