Act Like a WHAT? THINK LIKE A WHO? Come on now......

Okay, we're seeing it all over the place now. And that's great. Black actors back at work - doing the dang thang - GREAT! WONDERFUL! But what concerns me is 'the message'.

I won't go into some long theological disclosure about my perception of Steve Harvey's obvious 'come up' with yet another relationship book telling Black Women that WE need to do something different in order to get these men to 'act' right. In the words of one of my favorite super heros, Mr. Incredible, "Why can't they just stay saved?" lol..

I digress. My real question is, who's going to see this movie, that didn't read the book?

And, if the men - the quintessential defectors of this mantra - don't go see the movie, what difference will it make?

And, for those of us who have read the book, how much of a difference has it made in your lives?

Any takers?

Tashana you must be a hammer because you just hit the nail on the head. These productions are about the Money {$} not about benefitting anyone. The reason Men are not coming to these types of movies or events is because they don't address the needs and issues of what Men need and want to hear.If you talk to a Man in the language men understand , they will listen , believe me because I am a Man. The media is creating these steroetypes of our Beautiful Black women and then they are like vultures ,pretending to offer answers but their true intent is to Stuff their Own Pockets. Just remember peoples #1 interest is THEMSELVES.

Christopher, did you read the book? I'm finding that 'most' men haven't even read the book and formed their opinions based on reviews, and of course, other men.

Don't get me wrong, there are some things in the book that I agree with, that WE, as women need to 'rethink', but I do agree that if men aren't seeing any value in these types of ventures, then it's all moot.

I reallly haven't had any interest in reading the book.To get information is one thing but if their is no Man around to evaluate the effectiveness of that information, it falls into a category of stored information. When they talk about efeective solutions to improve Men and Women in communication , thats when I read what they have to say. At the moment, our children are the ones that are hurting the most because of this lack of Unity. Thats Real!!!

Well, don't you find it interesting that a 'man' wrote a book 'for women' about how to deal with 'men', such as himself? Isn't that like the government selling it's secrets to the highest bidder - only they know the real truth about it's value. Or did I miss something?

I agree that our children are hurting, but I'm not necessarily sure that the 'lack of unity' is the only element affecting that situation. It's obviously a huge factor, but what are your thoughts on mending that gap - if it's even possible to mend at this point?

Men and women have been 'disconnected' for centuries. I mean, think about it, way back when, women were hung and killed for exhibiting signs, now known and accepted as part of the female condition (i.e. PMS, Postpartum depression, menopause, etc.). So, I believe, it's safe to assume that this 'huge' disconnect is also, a part of the human condition. Thoughts?
