Another industry in which we are inadequately represented

Today I had to take my car in for service, of the five people waiting, three were women. Two were African American and all three were of color. As I looked around on the sales floor not one of the glass cubicles had a woman inside. My curiosity turned to disgust as it dawned on me that I had never seen a black woman in any automotive sales floor. I decided to ride around and see if any women were in any of the the dealerships. Yes there were women, but in very traditional roles; cashier, etc. Did every woman drive a car into the dealership, why then can't we sell them? Can anyone expound? Are there any car company higher ups who can tell why women are not seeing women on the sales floor or in many other roles?

I posted this to say we have power. We have the power to make companies understand that we want and deserve representation. I will not buy another car with from a dealership in which I am not represented. I am in the market this year and will not be buying from a local dealer. Economic power is the big stick, that most of us have. We need to use it to make companies understand our buying power and impact to their bottom line.
