2010 U.S. Census, Midterm Elections to Shape Political Power on State, Federal Levels
With less than one month to go until the Nov. 2 General Election, scant coverage has been given to the preliminary 2010 U.S. Census results. What voters may not realize is that the votes they cast in 28 days along with new Census data will likely affect the 2012 presidential election, as well as their representation for the next decade. Every 10 years, the U.S. Constitution (Art. 1, § 2) requires the government to take a population census. The goal: To ensure proper representation in the U.S. House and to properly apportion taxes.
