On a sleepless night in 2002, Sandra Pearsal decided she was tired of being broke. "I prayed, "lord, I know there's got to be something better, "recalls Pearsall, 39, then a pharmacy tech. Real estate intrigued her, so she learned the basics at her local library, then found a real estate agent. "I stopped for that house the way i do for clothes- I wanted quality without paying full price," She recalls. Having improved her blemished credit using a secured credit card and making timely payments, she qualified for a no money-down FHA loan. Her first house purchased for 80,000, is worth 275,000 today, She now owns 13 investment properties in MD, NC worth 1.5 million combined.

Even with success stories like this a new study by the Insight Center for Community Economic Development released startling findings: Once you factor in how much a typical Black Woman owes versus what she owns, Black Women ages 18 to 54 on average have a net worth of just 100.00, throw in there cars which is considered a depreciating asset, and that number jumps to 5000.00.

Now the sad thing this info is so true. I have a co-worker that spends 400.00 a month just on hair weave.
