Being criticized for your style in the workplace

I would like to open a discussion up for any women that have been criticized because of their dress style in the workplace. Most recenly I was told that I dress to s*xy for work. My clothes are to s*xy, when there are our white counter parts wearing similar clothes. However, I am little more curvey, therefore my clothes hug my curves more. So pencil skirts are out of the question for me, I was told they are to revealing. However, my white counterparts where them all the time. The dress code says skirts should be no more than 2 inches above the knee. My skirts and dresses come to my knees, but they fit my curves, although not tight. I was also told that men look me, meaning its my fault. That made me think of what some people say of women who are are raped; that it was because of the way they were dress (they were asking for it). Has anyone else faced this or similar issues in the workplace? If so do you have solutions?

Sister Alicia unfortunately I've not had any experiences like this myself, because I'm in the hospital wearing sloppy looking scrubs. But from your blog picture, you appear to be a very attractive young lady; therefore, regardless to the type of clothes you wear men and women alike are going to look at you.

I'm sorry that you feel you're being discriminated against in the workplace, but unfortunately it happens all the time to women with curves. I'm sure the men aren't the ones complaining or criticizing you. Chalk it up to jealousy or envy as usual, but if the person is your boss, then its a horse of a different color entirely. Play it smart girlfriend is what I would do.

Perhaps you could add a nice blazer or shawl to your wardrobe to dress up those curves. You can never go wrong with accessories that would probably take the focus off your curves and onto other areas of your body ((giggling ...seriously doubt that where men are concerned)).

P.S. Do you have some pics to post of your work style? If not, take care.
