Play Me

They thought they could be me, out play me
But what they failed to see
Was the true love that, bond me and thee
In a divine covenant for eternity
Not a perfect but a blameless creed
A love song played, by two bruised reeds
Impossible to be duplicated, by wanta-be's
Those who attempt to seize
The beloved of another
Strangers, friends even, sisters or brothers
Can covet, all that each other, has
When jealousy surpass, reason
Betrayals and treason, seem to be in season
For there is a time for every matter
To disregard or gather
Think the grass greener and rather
Have, a chance to see
Foolishly think, they wanta-be me
Lord, knows, that could never be
For who can alter, a God given destiny?
Surely not a wanta be, first chair

No one can play me...better than Me,
Mommy Dearest
