This mentor program will start January 01, 2010 to August 14, 2011
Each mentor will have one youth. We can only accept 20 mentors and 20 youth at this first event. This process is base on a first come sign up. There is an 18 month commitment. A youth has to be high school age 15-19 at the time of sign up. A youth can resign up for another 1 year & 8 months for a total of 36 months. The mentor of Mega daughters will still have to resign up on a first come bases.
The mentor that does not wish to resign that youth up after the first 18 months is over.
I advise that you work with that youth to have someone sign up for mega daughters to sign that youth up. We do not want a youth to be turned away or hurt for a lack of personal reasons or life change situation with a mentor. I pray that all mentors will continue to support that youth if they wish to continue on.
If for any reasons that after the 18 months, a mentor who did not resign up in time, we will try to accommodate an increase over the 20 selected base on funding.
Each youth has to get a sign wavier by a parent or guardian that they can participate with the mentor. The mentor just needs to send me an E-mail mdotson33@yahoo.com or fax 718 454-1133
The mega daughters of destiny mentor responsibility is to spend 4 hrs a month by phone or visit, even 1 hr a week by phone call is still a great way to edify a youth. The mentor will guide them to what services that they can spend time in giving & learning. The hrs is up to the service provider, no set hrs by Mega daughters. The mentor will send every 4 months a progress report for that youth to mdotson33@yahoo.com or fax 718 454-1133
At the end of the first year I would need to have the first letter sign by the community service or ministry outreach, or business that the youth did the hrs for the year. If for any reason that a youth who attends school and could not get credit by their school because they was not assign by their school and did this based on our program Please let me know, you are the mentor’s we want to make sure you can advocate for that youth. I will be glad to sign a school form so they don’t lose credit. Their extra credits for high school and college application deserve our help as steward’s for Christ
Before the end of the 18 months, July of 2011 I would have to have the second letter sign by the service provider of hrs for that youth.
The mentor will have to send in the last progress report for the youth in July 2011.
This big dinner event will be in Michigan @ the Holiday Inn on Lake Shore drive for August 14 2011 (Saturday) this will be a one day event in the evening. Arrival flights into South bend airport will be for Aug 14, 2011 Sat is. One night hotel stays on Sat. Leaving Aug 15, 2011 Sun am. Transportation will be provided through a private service.
All 20 youth will need a sign letter sent to mdotson33@yahoo.com by their parent or guardian to attend with their mentor.
All 20 youth airfare & hotel will be paid for by sponsors. We will book a double bed so there is no cost for the hotel for a mentor or family member. The mentor will have to pay for airfare. If a female mentor has a youth that is a male, then a single room would be book for that male and the cost of a hotel will be on the expense of that mentor. If a family member is willing to travel please let me know as well they will have to pay for their own way. Now if a mentor can’t come to the event then we ask that the family member accompany the youth. I will give a notice in Dec of 2010 which is the dead line for money to be sent for airfare tickets. All tickets for youth and mentor will be purchase by Jan 2011. After I have purchase tickets I will send an E-mail notification for Mentor and youth tickets were you can access the electronic tickets to be printed.
