TAMPA, FL — One person was arrested after a brawl erupted at a wedding reception Sunday night in Tampa, injuring the groom’s father and grandmother, Tampa Police said.
Markeith Brown and Tasha Johnson got married Sunday. They held their reception at the Rusty Pelican in Tampa.
According to Tampa Police, sometime during the reception, someone took offense when Brown tossed dollar bills on the dance floor for children to grab. Brown and his brother confronted the person who took offense and that led to an altercation.
The fight spilled outside into the parking lot with 30-40 people taking up sides. Tampa Police came out and quickly stopped the fight, separating both sides.
“It started out as a celebration of wedding nuptials and then basically turned into a wedding gone wild,” said Laura McElroy, Tampa Police spokeswoman.
The wildness did not stop. Tampa Police said a second fight broke out later that night at the Residence Inn in Tampa where many guests were staying.
