When to Conduct Intensive Workouts

How is your progress in trying to get in shape and have the body you always wanted? Have you reached that specific weight that you wanted?

When you work out intensively with the purpose of getting toned, getting ripped abs, or to gain muscle or mass, always do it for a limited period of time. What I mean by that is, don't work out intensively all the time. That can cause problems in the long run.

One example of this was when I was doing a very intensive workout routine a few years ago. I would work out my whole upper body one day, my whole lower body another day, and then I would spend two days working out my whole day. So that was four days of intense working out a week. I did that for a good few weeks.

Unfortunately the results I got I experienced only for a short span. I did this work out routine in the fall. And I would go to the gym after spending four hours lifting boxes at Fed Ex. What do you think happened to me? Yes I got sick, very sick. I had to take a bit of time off work, and I didn't go to the gym for a week. And when I went to the gym after feeling better, I wasn't able to work out as good.

Remember when you work out intensively, you're breaking down your muscles and your immune system. Your immune system, when broken down, increases chances of sickness or disease to enter your body and effect you. And if you don't feed your muscles with the proper amount of protein they need after intensive workouts, you won't be able to progress in your health and fitness goals.

I recommend that you take 10-15 grams of Glutamine per day, for Glutamine supports your immune system and stops muscles from breaking down. Also I recommend working out intensively every other week, or for a good two weeks, and then workout light to maintain your strength, stamina, and endurance. This way you won't end up sick or having problems with achieving your goals.

Great advice sheldon. I work out six days a week an hour before and after work and saturday before i get my hair done. I focus on strength training three days light cardio and toning the rest. I will definetly visit ur site for more tips cause i'm starting to get a gut from drinking soda (i know but i'm addicted), beer and eating sugar plus stress.

Hi Crystal. That's good you have a good work out routine going on. Keep it up. I just recently posted a blog on Cola. You can read it at http://sheldonmarketingguru.blogspot.com/2...

Thanks Sheldon. I know all the problems with Cola but for some reason it's been difficult it's my one vice but I am down to just one can every other day. It's funny because i didn't start drinking it till i started working for my employer I've been there six years. They stress me out something aweful and cola seems to calm me. I do make up for it in other areas.

You're welcome Crystal. Yeah work can be stressful at times, and that's good you work out because that helps to relieve your stress. And that's good you don't drink a whole lot of soda for too much would give you problems of joint functionality. Do you have any hair problems like hair thinning or anything else as a result of stress?
