Why did Israel have to ask for a King?>

I thought over and over again about how we as a people are so corrupt and misled today but through obedience were so blessed and highly favored by the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob many ages ago. I read Genesis and didn't understand how far we fell until just the other day. I slapped myself on the cheek literally and said we actually chose to believe that there was a substitute for God. We have placed our faith in these laws and rules made and manipulated by men who do not fear God. We are locked into their system. "Of man's first disobedience.." is how the epic poem Paradise Lost(Milton) begins. I pondered and understood that from that very incident man kind would be thrown into an everlasting battle fighting against truth by seeking self fulfillment. If you are a reader of the word you can see that time after time, though God chose not tohis sprirt continue indefinatlyin men due to disobedience, His presence and service was always abundant. When ever there was one who trusted and believed and did nothing except for what God wanted there was progress evident in the lives of the people, there were great victories, no struggles, always progress. However as soon as the people would divert their attention to a rebellious man either by force or by will, you can see the digression, oppression, and plea for change. How and why would the tribes ask for a king to be over them when they had God all along oh they of little faith. We just cant believe if we cant see it.. poor us.. hard head stiff neck people. Just had to ask for a King didn't they. After knowing how powerful God is first hand, he'd just delivered them from Egypt, guided them into a land that was given to them to live and occupy freely, and only asking that they always do what he says how he said to. How ungrateful . Whatever the King wanted the people did no matter if he followed Gods will or not. They weren't smart enough to rebel and say we will only serve a God fearing King. No they just went along with it. as long as there was a King they did whatever. If you just read Genesis through 2 Chronicle you will see the sad history of how they were punished and suffered every time for following men who wished to be worshipped their self. Even today we accept the way this system is laid out and follow all rules knowing they hinder us as a people. I know what it means to follow the lord and his ways. I could get deep with this but I don’t want to talk to myself. i wrote more on my myspace page www.myspace.com/donnisduchess. Follow the ways of the lord. those who live by the way of this world will be destroyed with it. Don’t put your trust in man. man will lead you to a bridge and push you off, God will lead you to a bridge and give you wings to fly over it. Peace and Blessings talk to me people......
