Black Women with a Record!

B. Camille Griffin · Saturday, April 11th 2009 at 5:06PM · 92 views
I'd like to hear the thoughts and possibly the solution for women with records. Ones who are having trouble landing the job they are qualified for. I have a record and a Bachelor's degree. Having that degree and the qualifications for any job I apply for don't really matter. Employers read my resume, but when the application comes through and I tell them I have a record, I don't hear from them. I have been out of work since February and haven't had a bite at a job.

Tell me your thoughts anybody. Let me know I am not alone and the possible solution for my dilemma.

Depending on what your record is for, why tell them at all. Unless it was for a felony, you don't even have to bring it up do you??? It is hard enough to get a job with that hanging over your head. So unless it specifically says, don't tell.

You could create your own business

Lenisa, thanx for the post. It is a felony and every application asks for the information.

Michelle, thanx for the post. I have given it some great thought, but I have not ideas at the moment for a business. Although I love training animals, I have tried to open that business, I am not certified nor did I have the funds to continue.
