Take 5- It Says More Than You Know

Take 5- It Says More Than You Know

I attended a workshop several years ago and the sista that spoke challenged us to think about our 5 closest friends and that if we told her who they were, she could tell us what we valued...Though it sounded simple enough, that process was enlightening to say the least. Each day I send out a text to those friends in my contacts and recently I sent out a text that posed a similar challenge....I invited them to list the 5 people they spend the most time with, the 5 things they invest the majority of your time in and 5 things they would want RIGHT now if money, time and locality were not a barrier. In doing so, I noted that in doing so they would reveal what they TRULY treasure.

Over the years since I attended that workshop I have strived to be more conscious of the people I allow in my sphere of influence. From intimate relationships to friendships and even professional relationships, I have ascribed to the philosophy that says "if you can't change the people around you, then change the people around you..."

It's certainly diffiult to cut off people from your life but if we're honest with ourselves, how often do we hang on to that and those who are irrelevant and mean us no good. In my humble opinion we are eithe changing our enviromnent or being changed by it. So the question is how and is it for the better or better yet, does it add value or detract value?

Of course we all make our own decisions but I invite you to Take 5 minutes and look at each of the areas mentioned above and see what message you're subconscionsly sending yourself and those around you.

Trust and belive...be it a mate, a colleague, a child, an employer or any other..it says more than you know...The fine line between sanity and insanity is the difference in what we say we believe and what our actions show.

Go ahead...TAKE 5
