Who's your favorite black/African American heroine?

In my book "Food for the Soul" available at www.authorhouse.com; www.amazon.com and Barnes & Noble, I have a chapter entitled "Pillar of Strength or Beast of Burden". I define a Pillar of Strength as a black woman who never sacrifices who she is, nor what she believes in, in order to gain success... Two of my favorite black/African American heroines are Harriet Tubman and Rosa Parks... Who are yours?

There is such an array of Black/African American heroines, it's hard for me to have a favorite....I look too, in my own family of women who are my personal heroines. They are all satires of uniquess of strength, grace, beauty and hope. Thanks for blogging this poll we so often forget women (no matter what races or creeds) have faced many tough challenges and have overcome. We still do today.

Rosa park for her braveness and her willingness to stand her grounds.
