I was recently afforded the opportunity to attend one of the most well kept secrets in the literary community. This gem I speak of is, Pam Perry's PR Boot Camp. Pam Perry, Award Winning PR, Marketing Specialist, extended her over 20 years of expertise to a class of eager fledgling writers, anxious to learn just a morsel of her wellspring of knowledge. I tuned in each week, promptly, awaiting, the volumes of information she unselfishly extended to each of us. Tips on how to build a successful platform, how to identify your target audience and the importance of being a proactive author. Valuable information on how to compile a Press Kit and Press Release. The importance of blogging, ezines, and podcasting, using the internet as a tool for marketing. I now have a whole new perspective of the word "Media", at one time applying that term only to television, radio, newspaper and magazine, I now know that even I can "Be the Media", through blogging, blog talk radio and podcasting. I was especially encouraged by her suggestion of partnering with other writers, as detailed in her new book, "Synergy Energy", this concept makes it all seem less insurmountable. The care and love in which Ms. Perry extended herself really touched my heart. Taking out the time to handpick just the right material for the right person, it seemed uncanny, she makes it look so easy.
