David's confident hope for his country's children is similar to what most parents today wish for their own kids.
WE WANT OUR SONS to be FIRMLY ESTABLISHED - CONFIDENT and VITAL and FRUITFUL,
"LIKE WELL - NURTURED PLANTS"
THAT ARE TENDED BY THE LORD HIMSELF.
WE LONG for OUR DAUGHTERS to be STABLE and STRONG, YET LOVELY IN THEIR FEMININITY and ELEGANT and VALUABLE IN THE EYES OF OTHERS.
David recognizes that such a heritage for his nation's children is not his to accomplish.
He cannot bring in about by the force of his will.
THE ONLY WAY IT CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED is THROUGH THE GRACIOUS WORK OF GOD.
AS PARENTS, WE WORK HARD TO BRING UP OUR CHILDREN RIGHTLY, DRESSING THEM, KEEPING THEM CLEAN and FED, TEACHING THEM AND MAKING SURE THEY'RE SPIRITUALLY NOURISHED.
