HOW MORGAN STATE UNIVERSITY LIFTS SHELTER-IN-PLACE ORDER FOLLOWING MASS GUN SHOOTING! (1262 hits)

For Immediate Release From Baltimore City Mayor Brandon M. Scott!

ATTENTION Morgan Community: The Shelter-in-Place order on campus has been lifted. All shuttle services have resumed. As more details become available, we will update our campus community via official University communication channels.

BPD and MSU officials are asking concerned family members to avoid the campus area. They may report to the Safeway parking lot at 4401 Harford Road. A BPD Officer will be available at that location.

I am on scene at Morgan State, with university leadership, BPD, and our federal and state law enforcement partners. This is no longer considered an active shooter situation, but is an ongoing investigation. Media briefing to come soon.

During the Baltimore City Council meeting yesterday, two dedicated servant leaders were confirmed to lead our public safety agencies. Please join me in congratulating Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley and Fire Chief James Wallace on their well-deserved confirmations!

As we move forward, both will play a pivotal role in our mission to make Baltimore a safer and more prosperous place for all residents. Commissioner Worley recognizes that effective policing goes hand in hand with community engagement, and his vision aligns perfectly with our commitment to strengthening these vital relationships.

Since taking office, I have prioritized centering our communities as the heart and soul of our public safety policies. As a result, I’m proud of the progress we have achieved working across neighborhoods and tackling public safety with a holistic and public health approach.

Commissioner Worley and Chief Wallace each bring a deep love for our city to their positions as well as a wealth of experience in working with the community to achieve positive results.

Together, we will continue to build a brighter and safer future for Baltimore.

Thank you,
Mayor Brandon Scott
