CALL FOR PEER REVIEWERS
Effective Educator Development Division
School Ambassador Fellowship FY21 Cycle

The U.S. Department of Education (Department), Office of Elementary and Secondary Education, Effective Educator Development (EED) Division is seeking peer reviewers for the upcoming School Ambassador Fellowship application review and selection. The U.S. Department of Education created the School Ambassador Fellowship as an opportunity for outstanding teachers, administrators, and other school leaders to engage directly with the Department and use their school and classroom expertise to inform the national dialogue about education. For more information about the School Ambassador Fellowship Program, please visit the School Ambassador Fellowship Website: https://oese.ed.gov/offices/office-of-disc...

WHO: We are seeking peer reviewers with a range of experiences to evaluate School Ambassador Fellowship applications submitted to the Department. Ideal peer review candidates are current and retired P-12 educators (including but not limited to teachers, administrators, school counselors, psychologists, social workers, library media specialists, etc.) whose careers reflect one or more of the following experiences and accomplishments:

Locally Recognized Educators (District Awards, Golden Apple Recipients, State Teacher of the Year, etc.)

Nationally Board-Certified Educators (Teachers, Administrators, Counselors, etc.)
Nationally Recognized Educators (Blue Ribbon Recipients, National State Teacher of the Year Finalists, etc.)

Leadership in Education Organizations (ASCD, Teach Plus, CCSSO, NASSP, NABSE, NEA, etc.)

Other outstanding educators with a record of demonstrated success in their schools and districts.

WHEN: Reviews are tentatively scheduled to take place virtually between January 29 and February 12, 2021 and will follow a peer reviewer training webinar.

REVIEWER COMMITMENTS: Peer reviewers must be able to commit to the following:
Approximately 10-12 hours to devote to the independent review of Fellowship applications between January 29 and February 12, 2021.

Approximately 2-3 hours between January 29 and February 12, 2021 for a virtual meeting with their review panel to discuss applications assigned to them. Each panel will determine the exact date and time(s) they will meet as a group to discuss applications assigned to them.

Internet access and access to a virtual conferencing platform such as Skype, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.

Avoiding real or apparent conflicts of interest in the review process.

INTERESTED APPLICANTS: If you are interested in being considered as a peer reviewer, please complete the questionnaire no later than January 5, 2021: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePag...

By no later than January 29, 2021, we let you know if you have been selected to serve as a peer reviewer for the School Ambassador Fellowship competition. Please be reminded that the number of peer reviewers needed is contingent on the number of applications we receive.

If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact the program staff at SAFPeerReviews@ed.gov. Thank you for your interest in reviewing applications for the School Ambassador Fellowship!
