I attended my first book fair on 7/25/2016. Three Ladies and a Gentleman from Richmond, Virginia sponsored the event. The prices for a table were reasonable from what I understood. Remember this was my first one lol, so I asked around to find out if the price was a good one. I found out that it was, hurray for me right. I am on a budget. My supplies for the fair came from the dollar general store and dollar tree. You will be surprised at what you will find in those stores. Also, remember that your supplies will be used, repeatedly at different events. So they will pay for themselves over time, now that’s great to hear!!! I now have tablecloths, table holders, decoration pieces, and homemade bookmarkers (made by yours truly) to display a beautiful table of books. I have so much respect for authors, artist, any entrepreneur who is doing it on their own. Marketing and promoting your hard work is a job in itself. I started my first fair overwhelmed and scared, but I got better as the day progressed. I noticed that the more I talked about my book. The easier the words came out, and my confidence grew. I received advice from vendors, who have been marketing their stuff for years. This information has been priceless! I was told to sign up for sites like www.eventbrite.com. After you, create that account. You are then able to view events listed from anywhere. The events listed will let you know if they want vendors and vendor fees… I just signed up to do a reading at my local library. I honestly had no clue that the event was coming up, glad that I took the time to view the site. So my message to all entrepreneurs is to get yourself out there. Network, promote, and market your product, whatever it may be! Do events and meet new people, which can lead to more events (promotion for your products).
