Lake Tanganyika in Africa has had a decline in the population of it's fish. According to a new study researchers and scientists conducted a over a period of a century shows results of fish decline in the once highly populated fishing lake. The study indicated that climate warming was the main cause of the decline. Other research results stated in addition the cause of decline were also aided by reduction in the stagnation of algal production, shrinking habitat of the lake bottom dwellers mulluscs and crustaceans. The research team from the University of Arizona addressed fossil life of the lake in the beginning of the study. The lake has had increasing population in the 1990's but recent studies shows a decline may be harmful to fisherman and the supply of fish as food for many in that region of Africa. Lake Tanganyika is one the second largest freshwater lakes in the world. Researchers are concerned as the fish growth is at an all time decline. The researchers report was released in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences Journal.
