Abstract / Objectives of this Discussion:
A naïve person or action often displays a lack of experience, wisdom, or judgment. This is generally a term reserved for younger adults as they are said to be natural and unaffected and even, innocent. Generally speaking, to be naive means that we do not think enough. People who are "naive" tend to believe in whatever they are told, without questioning whether it is right or wrong or true or false. As for age, it can be anywhere from 1-100. Anyone who has not lived through and seen enough of this world is generally referred to as gullible and naive. Other synonyms for the word naïve include: innocent, unsophisticated, artless, ingenuous, inexperienced, guileless, unworldly, trusting, having very little or no perspective.
So the question is, “How naïve are you in 2015?” How good are you at reading people and situations as they are happening right in front or you? How good are you at listening and inferring information not just from what is spoken, but from what is not being spoken or mentioned? Have you ever had and sustained a relationship with a member of the opposite s*x before? Do men or women make you uncomfortable? Are you acting naïve in your current courtship? Are your impressions about what a successful courtship or marriage should be like 2015 not grounded in reality? Are you being naïve about the importance of bringing in another party to discuss the realities of married life and provide real counseling to you both? Can you really afford to approach these things in a naïve way? What price do we have to pay for being naïve at this stage of the game?
What naïve ideas about your husband or wife did you bring into your marriage? Most couples are naive about how challenging and sometimes difficult marriage will turn out to be. This may sound cruel, but studies show that it is important to burst some of these naive marriage bubbles in order to help ensure a happy marriage. How did marriage turn out to be different than what you thought it would be? In this show we will take on some of the very popular marriage myths that couples have or had about marriage including:

Our marriage will naturally grow closer over time. 7) Naive marriage idea #7: Once we are married, we won’t have to deal any more with issues like pornography or drug use. 8) Naive marriage idea #8: If God is “at the center” of our marriage,” everything will end better just like it does on the sitcoms. 9) Naive marriage idea #9: All we need is love to make our marriage work. 10) Naive marriage idea #10: My partner couldn’t do anything that would cause me to question my love for him/her.
