LATOYA JACKSON ANNOUNCES ENGAGEMENT; FATHER JOE JACKSON GIVES HER HIS MARRIAGE BLESSING (1591 hits)
ABCNews--It's official: La Toya Jackson and longtime business partner Jeffré Phillips are engaged, and it looks like her husband-to-be started things off on the right foot with her family.
Cameras have been capturing the budding relationship on the new season of "Life with La Toya," and in a sneak peek of from an upcoming episode, Jeffré sits down with La Toya's father.
"I've fallen in love with your daughter," Jeffré tells Joe Jackson, carefully choosing his words. "I want to ask you if you mind if I ask your daughter to marry me.
"But I want to get your blessings first -- "
Joe stops him. "You got mine already, and you'll get it again when she comes," he says.
In fact, Joe says he's known for the last 15 or 20 years that Jeffré has been in love with La Toya. Relieved to have his blessing, Jeffré explains that he wants to take La Toya to Hawaii for the surprise proposal.
But it looks like Joe has ideas of his own. "It may be pretty hard for me to keep this secret," he says with a smile.
The all-new season of "Life with La Toya" begins Saturday, June 7 at 10 p.m. ET on OWN.
