A University of Oxford study releases a dirty study about the bills you carry around in your wallets and purses.
It's your dirty money. The study from Master Card used 1000 volunteers to gather results that 60% of those surveyed found money to be dirty. Findings were conclusive that money is filthy! In a 2002 study in the Southern Medical Journal reported that 80% of cash tested proved positive for germs. There were also findings of 26,000 type of bacteria found on money.
One surprising case of dirty money happened when a Michigan Circle K had their employees hospitalized after coming in contact with money tainted with methamphetamine. Most medical experts agree that germs are passed along from hand to hand. In 2009 the University of Mass at Darmouth found that 90% of money tested showed traces of cocaine and was the most common of containments of money handled in the United States.
With the money being dirty, medical communities are urging more than ever frequent hand washing, and perhaps anti-bacterial applications should be applied especially for persons with low resistance.
