FDA is moving closer to approval of a genetically engineered salmon to grace the future dining of your table. Food and Drug Adminstration has released that the salmon is no threat for human consumption. However, critics from The Center of Food Safety a non-profit consumer protection group and Food and Water Watch a consumer adovacy group may sue to stop the genetic fish from being caught in the food chain. AquaAdvantage the name given to the atlantic salmon egg was developed by AquaBounty Technology to speed up global seafood demands. In a draft enviornmental assessment given on Friday, December 21, 2012 the FDA affirmed that biotech salmon would not likely to be harmful to humans and is bringing the FDA's approval seal to start growing the genetic fish sooner than anticipated. On the other side of the river, per say critics have say that the salmon is dangerous for eating and are " fishing" to file a lawsuit to prevent the genetic catch into the consumer's hands. There are some questions as to if the FDA would require or regulate labeling which are still undetermined. These critics are seeking that the whole experiment is totally unsafe.
