Who exactly is Naomi Koshi? Until now you may have never heard of her. Even now, you might be wondering why should I recognize her name? Naomi Koshi has made a gratifying and significant new margin in Japan's policital make up. She's one of the youngest women to become a mayor in Japan. Koshi is a Harvard Law School Graduate has made history as one of the few women in Japan's polictical history to hold office as mayor and also one of the youngest ever being only 36 years of age. Koshi beat her male incumbent Makoto Mekata which is twice her age in the mayor's race by a margin 5 to 4. Koshi is now Shiga's prefecture new mayor and co-incidentially shares with the city's region of Shiga's prefecture another woman holding office as governor making this the regions two top jobs ever to held by women. Koshi was backed by the centre- left Democratic Party Japan Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda. Koshi won the election on Sunday, January 22, 2012.
