Welcome to our first feature of the Our Blogs are Beautiful series.
This series will shine the spotlight those beautiful sistas who are on their own paths for greatness, trailblazers in their own rights. These sistas are essentially setting the stage for history making on their own. The sistas that will be honored here are authors of some of the most prolific writings you will ever see. They are Beautiful Black Bloggers. They are extraordinary sistas doing extraordinary things. They have visions and are living their lives filled with so much purpose and passion. Not only are they talking the talk, but they are walking the walk. And the best part about it is that they are still youthful, flying high on eagles wings, with a lot of miles left in them to accomplish more great feats.
Our first feature will shine the spotlight on the beautiful author, Brittany, who is the beauty and brains behind Clumps of Mascara (beauty and makeup) and Loc Rocker, (natural hair) blogs.
Brittany's love for beauty and make-up inspired her to turn her passion into a blog which led to a business. Her blog, CoM is one of the leading blogs on beauty products and features product reviews on different brands of make-up and hair products. Her blog pieces and other articles that she has written have been featured on Black Voices, Carol's Daughter FB page, Clutch Mag and other sites highlighting hair and beauty. Brittany recently won the Best Blogger Contest from the popular Shecky's Girls Night Out (I attended one of their events and let me tell you, they are loads of fun with free wine, snacks and goodie bags).
Ok. Back to Brittany. She created the blogs with a specific purpose in mind:
"My goal is to inspire women all over to love the beauty that they already posses. To love their hair textures, skin complexions, large lips, big eyes, small eyes and everything in between. Clumps of Mascara means admitting that, “Yeah…I’m not perfect. But I am me. I am beautiful. And I rock.” If I’ve inspired one, then I’ve done my job. While I get emails from ladies thanking me, I really want to thank them. It was this blog that gave me purpose and re-ignited my passion for writing. It was Clumps that went from a blog to a business that sent this small city girl on trips to meet celebrities and speak at conferences." (CoM website).
I am honored to shine the spotlight on Brittany as our first feature on Our Blogs are Beautiful. Not only is she talented and beautiful, but she is also my cousin. Beauty and brains are in our genes.
