Our Blogs are Beautiful- Honoring our History by making History (144 hits)
Welcome to Black History month!
Our black history has always been a defining part of who we are and who we will become. It is through our history that we've learned how to be tough, to stand tall and never let them see us sweat. Knowing the hardship that our ancestors had to endure, just so that we could walk in the front of a building, instead of the back; ride in the front of the bus, sit in the dining area of the restaurants, drink from public water fountains (I digress on that one), go where we want, when we want, for whatever reason we want and to receive the same opportunities for education as our counterparts. It is because of our ancestors that for the first time in history, we now have a President of the United States of America, who is a Black man.
We honor and celebrate those who endured the hardship, took the beatings, served the time and the masters, walked the roads less travelled, endured the slaveship and watched their women be raped. We also honor those who stood in the gap for us, marched on Washington, never gave up on their dreams, pushed us in educaton, broke down the barriers in music and television, and who paved the way to the Whitehouse.
We salute all of you. The lives that you led, will never be in vain. To God be the glory.
There are many of us who really appreciate the doors that have been opened for us because we learned from the hurt and pains of others. We also learned the hard way from our heartaches and mistake. But in spite of the pain, the persecution, the naysayers, those who left us, those who betrayed us, those who overlooked us for promotions, those times when we didnt want to even get out bed, and in spite of our own self doubt and self sabotage, we continue the journey. We press our way toward the prize, the higher calling, the land of milk and honey, the destination that has been set before us.
In recognition of Black History, I would like to spotlight those beautiful sistas who are continuing to push it to the limit. They are on their own paths for greatness, trailblazers in their own rights. These sistas are essentially setting the stage for history making on their own. The sistas that will be honored here are not the one you see on the big screen, or the little one either for that matter. They are not the one that you see with their names in neon lights performing on the broadway stages or the concert stages. They are not the author of the songs that you hear on the radio or the scripts that you see at the movies.
But they are authors of some of the most prolific writings you will ever see. They are Beautiful Black Bloggers. They are extraordinary sistas doing extraordinary things. They have visions and are living their lives filled with so much purpose and passion. Not only are they talking the talk, but they are walking the walk. And the best part about it is that they are still youthful, flying high on eagles wings, with a lot of miles left in them.
You will have the chance to check out what they are doing, because these sistas are blogging their way to success. Each has something unique to offer, valuable information. The blogs are an assortment of topics such as health and beauty, fitness, scrapbooking, motivational leaders, entertainment/media, spiritual, dancing, etc.
So join me this month at my blog www.soulfulsandstone.com as we celebrate and honor those who came before us to pave the way and spotlight those who are still paving the way for those who will come after us. I hope and pray that you will be inspired by their great works.
If you are or if you know of a beautiful black blogger who is a trailblazer, please let me know. I want to feature as many as I can.
