CURLS CARES...CURLS is committed to keeping the environment cleaner and greener. To show our support, we are proud to announce that CURLS will be participating in this year's Hands On New York Day on Earth Day (April 24, 2010). If you are interested in joining CURLS and helping to "Give New York City a Good Spring Greening", we invite you to join our special CURLS volunteer team called "CURLS Environistas" today!
The CURLS "Environistas" team will be responsible for greening and spring cleaning Little Bay Park in Bayside, Queens, New York. Volunteers will be engage in helping to make the park litter free. As, during the year (due to storms washing up debris, etc.) and especially as the weather warms (with some park goers not respecting public places and disposing of garbage improperly), a lot of garbage unfortunately appears on the park grounds. The CURLS "Environistas" team will aid in cleaning up grassy areas, rock paths, and the jetty extending out to the Bay, and repainting 3 picnic tables that are in urgent need of a paint job.
If you are interested in joing the CURLS "Environistas" team and you don't have reliable transportation, don't worry as round trip bus transportation is provided. New York Cares Day runs from 9:30 -3:00 P.M. And, New York Cares will be providing round-trip bus transportation to all who will be scheduled to volunteer for the event.The CURLS "Environistas" team will be scheduled to meet at the New York Cares office at 8:15 A.M. on Saturday, April 24 to register and board the bus. The Office is located at 214 West 29th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues. Or, you may opt to meet your team at the project site, by 9:30 A.M.All CURLS "Environistas" volunteers will receive a FREE CURLS Environista goody bag (to include a CURLS Environista T-Shirt, plantable post card (to plant a tree of their own) and product to use for styling on the day of the event). And, a special discount will be offered, after the event, to the volunteers in attendance.
