Enjoying Christmas without braking the bank! (100 hits)
It’s that time of year again and of course we are all running mad to prepare for the big day! Christmas comes every year, on December 25 to be exact and that date hasn’t change in the 32 years that I’ve celebrated it. With that said it’s a wonder why every year we get so worked up about shopping, trees, decorations and more shopping. I love to shop, I love to decorate and I absolutely love Christmas trees. What I don’t love is all the stress that it brings each year.
If you are experiencing the stress associated with Christmas, then its time to take a step back and think about what really matters. Is the stress associated with spending, are you willing to spend bill money or charge up credit to celebrate Christmas? If so then your missing the whole spirit of Christmas. For me, Christmas is a time for me to share with my family and reminisce about what has happened through out the year, its a time to celebrate and just spend time together. It’s the magic that comes on Christmas morning when the kids wake up and see that Santa was there. It’s not so important about what Santa brought it’s, exiting to every child to see that he’d been there. My children and I have a great understanding that it’s not about the most it’s the thought that went into the gift.
Instead of focusing so much on gift giving create a tradition that you can share with your family for many years to come. For example, my children and I put up the Christmas tree and trim it the day after Thanksgiving, instead of trying to save $10.00 on black Friday, risking losing a limb or eye, depending on how aggressive the shoppers get. Another tradition that my children can’t live without is making cookies for Santa and any visitors on Christmas day. Every Christmas Eve we prepare and cook about 5 dozen cookies. For those that don’t cook, there is something that you can do, that won’t break the bank and create an experience that you and your family will love. So enjoy the weeks to come and realize Christmas is what you want it to be and you create the tone!
